Most states have organizations at the state level that have statutory oversight responsibilities over the colleges and/or universities in that state. And in many cases, those responsibilities include certain oversight regarding curriculum. CurricUNET is ideally suited to support such statewide curriculum management needs.
At present, CurricUNET serves two of the largest systems of higher education in the United States, the California Community College System (112 colleges) and the Illinois Community College System (45 colleges). Both of these systems use the state-level version of CurricUNET to provide electronic submission of curriculum processes from all the colleges in their systems to their State Chancellor’s Office (or Board). Note that while most of the colleges in these systems elect to acquire the local version of CurricUNET, these states do not in fact require that all their colleges must do so in order to participate in the state-level reporting. In any event, the result is not just streamlined statewide curriculum processing, but also a statewide, searchable curriculum database.
